Coca-Cola Brazil: In search of Olympic Torch


Let the games begin! The Mill collaborated with Director Bryan Buckley of Hungry Man and Ogilvy & Mather Brasil

to bring the Coca-Cola bear to Rio 2016 where he pursues an adventure in search of the Olympic torch.

‘Torch Bear’ opens on the furry animated character in his chilly cave, but it isn’t long until he finds himself in new territory: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. With the help of a young guide he explores the exciting activities around him, but he doesn’t truly fit in until he figures out how to incorporate a little piece of home.

Shoot Supervisor and Creative Director Robert Sethi explains, “We worked with Brian to develop the story as it transitions from an animated world to the real world in Rio. In the ice cave, we made a conscious decision to simplify the environment and we emphasized it by creating a blue atmosphere. That later moves into a completely different world with a much warmer, yellow colour.”

The CG bear’s fur alternates between environments too, including changes in density, lighting and grooming.

His playful nature, however, remains consistent throughout. The team worked to create a character with a personality similar to a teenager’s: clumsy, goofy and fun, and with a bit of attitude.
